Jaws-dropping.. man who snared a 10ft killer shark
A MARINE scientist here risks his life grappling with a man-eating shark – the biggest of its type ever caught.
Brave Neil Hammerschlag, 33, was conducting a research tagging project when he and his team snared the killer fish.
They managed to drag the bull shark on to a water-level platform alongside their boat where it was measured at 10ft
in length with a girth of 7ft.
Calculated weight: more than 1,000lb – well above the 2001 bull shark record of 697lb 12oz.
Hammerschlag, from the University of Miami, caught it seven miles off the Florida Keys.
He placed a tag into its dorsal fin while his colleagues pumped sea water through its mouth.
The predator, a female, was released back into the ocean.
