Andy Carroll hoping for England call
ANDY CARROLL hopes his swashbuckling end-of-season form will prolong his campaign by propelling him into England’s Euro 2012 squad.
Liverpool striker Carroll produced an eye-catching display in the 4-1 win over Chelsea, underlining his claims.
His team-mate Glen Johnson even said that he had left John Terry “petrified”.
England manager Roy Hodgson names his 23-man squad next Wednesday knowing that Wayne Rooney will be suspended for the opening two matches of the tournament and that he will be without the injured Darren Bent.
“I don’t want the season to end,” said Carroll. “It would be nice to go to the Euros but I have one more game to go and we’ll see what happens after that.
“You can see that I am so much more confident now when I step out on to the pitch and I feel I have shown that in the last couple of matches.”
