Tearful Harry Redknapp: I’m not greedy
HARRY REDKNAPP fought back the tears as he responded to the claims of prosecutors at his tax evasion trial that he had told “a pack of lies”.
Tottenham manager Redknapp learned last night that he will not discover his fate until Tuesday at the earliest, with the jury not due to be sent by the judge to consider their verdict until after he has summed up, first thing that morning.
Yesterday, Redknapp’s five-and-a-half-hour spell in the witness box at Southwark Crown Court concluded in a heated exchange with prosecutor John Black QC, after he was accused of “twisting matters in order to get yourself and Mr Mandaric off”.
But Redknapp responded fiercely: “You think I put my hand on the Bible and told lies? That’s an insult, Mr Black, that’s an insult.
“I put my hand on the Holy Bible and everything I tell you is the truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God.”

Struggling to get his words out through his anger, Redknapp also countered accusations that he had deliberately tried to avoid paying tax on deposits adding up to £189,000 because of greed.
“I am the most ungreediest person you have ever met in your life ever, Mr Black,” he said
