Nashville shopping mall shooting: One dead as man opens fire at Opry Mills Mall
A NASHVILLE shopping mall was put on lockdown after a gunman opened fire with one man shot dead in the carnage.
Armed officers enter Nashville mall after reports of shooting
The shooting took pace at Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, Tennessee.
There are claims the man was shot inside one of the stores.
One shopper tweeted: “I just watched a lil boy get shot in the neck in Opry Mills."
A nearby hotel was also evacuated by police and images published on social media showed panicked shoppers fleeing the site.
Police are at the Nashville shopping mall
There were initial claims at least four people had been injured.
But local police later said one had been hurt and the gunman was in custody.
The victim was taken to hospital in a critical condition and later died
Police wrote: “Dispute at Opry Mills Mall results in gunfire. One person shot. Suspected shooter in custody.
“No additional imminent threat known. Mall being swept by MNPD officers as a precaution.”
They later added: “Shooting at Opry Mills appears to have been the result of an ongoing dispute between 2 males.
“One of them was critically wounded. The suspected gunman left the mall building and immediately surrendered.”
