A SUICIDE attack at a voter registration centre in Kabul has killed at least 48 people and injured dozens more.

Islamic State have brazenly claimed responsibly for the attack in the Afghan capital as civilians waited for their identity cards for the upcoming October election.
The bomber detonated an explosive vest, killing 48 and wounding 112 other while destroying cars and shattering windows.
"There were women, children. Everyone had come to get their identity cards," said Bashir Ahmad, who had been nearby when the attack took place after weeks of relative calm in the capital.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the sickening attack in the Dashte Barchi region via its Amaq news agency.

Since voter registration began attacks have multiplied, sparking widespread fear across the country.
Last week an attack in Ghor saw two police officers kidnapped outside a voter registration centre.
On Thursday, two police officesr were killed by another centre in Jalalabed and Friday saw one police officer killed in Qala-e-Naw.
