North Korea will not be stopped from achieving its military goals, expert reveals
Kim Jong-un is accelerating his missile programme “much faster than anybody expected,” Seoul based North Korea expert Andrei Lankov revealed.
Mr Lankov doubts the world will be able to block North Korea’s despotic leader from achieving his goal of creating a nuclear arsenal capable of reaching the US mainland.
The Seoul-based expert said: “They want to get the point of having a sufficient number of intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of destroying a sufficient number of American cities.”
Mr Lankov said only a use of military force stood any chance of stopping the hermit state’s advance while speaking on Fox News.
He continued: “There is no way to stop them.
“No way… a use of military force, but that would result in a second Korean war. That would be an absolute disaster.”

There is no way to stop them
He added: “They will not want to talk about denuclearisation…they could talk about a nuclear freeze…in exchange for political and economic concessions."
The expert did soften his analysis saying he is only “mildly worried” and believes dictator Kim Jong-un is a rational man and knows a war with the US would be his end.

Mr Lankov said: “It is alarming, there is the probability of mistakes, misunderstandings, stupidity…just bad luck.”
The latest escalation in hostilities saw North Korea fire another missile sparking terror in Japan with citizens told to take shelter.
The US military confirmed they the detected the launch of an intermediate range ballistic missile.
South Korea estimated the missile travelled 2300 miles, before crashing into the Pacific Ocean, putting the America territory of Guam well within its possible range.
Seoul responded to the test by firing a ballistic missile into waters off the coast North Korea.
