White House LOCKDOWN: Secret Service investigate suspicious package on North Lawn
THE WHITE House was been placed on lockdown by the US Secret Service after an unattended package was spotted on the North Lawn.
Security agents can be seen on the roof of the President's residence
Construction work on the North Lawn came to a halt on Tuesday afternoon as crews were told to leave the area.
Meanwhile, reporters were urged to wait in the James S. Brady briefing room while the security threat was investigated.
The Secret Service tweeted to confirm they were responding to an "unattended package near the North Fence of the White House complex", along with Washington police officers.

Pedestrian access around the White House has been restricted while security officers try to bring the situation under control.
Around half an hour later, the Secret Service confirmed the unattended package had been removed.
President Trump is not in the building having just left Washington for a rally in Arizona Tuesday night.
