UN Secretary General in Afghanistan
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has arrived in Kabul for meetings with Afghan and foreign officials.
The UN said Mr Ban's visit underscored the priority the United Nations was placing on its work in Afghanistan.
He will meet President Hamid Karzai, the commander of the Nato-led troops in Afghanistan and other officials.
The visit also coincides with renewed focus on the fight against militancy in the country by US President Barack Obama's administration.
The UN mission in Afghanistan has been tasked with leading the civilian aid efforts of the international community.
