Family narrowly escaped death at Grenfell Tower after mum flooded flat by running a bath
A QUICK-THINKING mother may have saved her family’s life by turning on the taps in her Grenfell Tower flat and running a bath.
Ms Elcock may have saved her family's life by running a bath
Mother Natasha Elcock who was on the 11th floor of the tower block with her boyfriend and six-year-old daughter ran a bath to flood her flat when the block was ablaze.
The 39-year-old, who has lived in the block for 20 years, said: “I let the bathroom flood. It kept the flat damp. It may have saved our lives.”
At first, the family were told to stay in their flat by the fire officers, but after 90 minutes they were told to get out.

She said: “We tried the door but it was too hot.
“We had our little girl on the wet floor and we went to the coldest room.
“The door was buckling and the windows bubbling and cracking. It was terrifying.”
Grenfell Tower is still being searched by fire officers
Fire crews managed to reach Ms Elcock at 3am and, after stepping over a body on the way out, they escaped to safety and went to hospital with smoke inhalation.
A JustGiving page has been set up by a friend to raise money for Ms Elcock and her family, which has already raised more than £5,000.
Her friend Chris Seagrove said on the page: “Right now, they have nothing, so any support would be gratefully received, and I couldn't think of a more deserving family.”
Grenfell Tower witness: I saw 25 people die in front of my eyes
The Prime Minister has vowed to hold an official investigation as to how the fire was caused.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed 17 people are dead but this number is likely to rise.
Londoners have been praised for coming together to help those in need following the disaster.
It is thought that a faulty fridge on the fourth floor may have caused the tragic fire.
