PROTESTERS hurled bottles and stones at police on the streets of Paris in protest over the French presidential candidates Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen.

Riot police were forced to fire tear gas in order to disperse the hundreds of campaigners as chaos erupted in the France's capital city.
Mobs of angry protesters also smashed the windows of local businesses, while one business shop window was emblazoned with the message “neither banker, nor racist” in apparent reference to both candidates.

Two people, including a 15-year-old, were injured in the chaos. Protests against both candidates have erupted since it was announced Mr Macron and the Front National leader would be going head to head in the last round of the presidential elections on Sunday.
The final first-round result saw independence centrist Mr Macron come top of the pile with 24.01 per cent of the vote.
Marine Le Pen was close behind with just above 21 per cent of the share.
