Donald Trump orders fighter jets to block a Russian bomb in Alaska
After a number of officials announced the escalation of relations between the US and Russia, Washington's military showed its strength in a missile showdown.
According to the Pentagon, Trump's military intercepted two Russian bombers in international airspace off the coast of Alaska.
Navy Commander Gary Ross, a Pentagon spokesman, said a pair of F-22 Raptor aircraft “safely and professionally” intercepted the Russian TU-95 Bear bombers.
The incident marked the first time in almost two years since Russian bombers have came close to the American coast.
The previous confrontation took place on July 4, 2015, as president Vladimir Putin seemingly wanted to deliver a message to the US.
A Russian news anchor has since branded Mr Trump as “more dangerous” than North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.
“Both are dangerous, but who is more dangerous? Trump is.”
