“I have been meeting in small villages and meeting French people who have never seen a candidate come to see them. It is my place, I am here among the French people who I want to defend.
“On security, it will be zero tolerance. I will never ask the French to get used to terrorism. I will bring Islamist fundamentalism to its knees!
“With me at the head of the State, never will a stowaway be treated better than a Frenchman in his own country.”
The right-wing candidate held her rally at an open-barn in the town of Eure-et-Loir, which has a population of 1,200. An estimated 1,000 people came out to watch the French presidential hopeful.
The 48-year-old also attacked fellow presidential rival Emmanuel Macron for labelling her party one of “hatred”.
She told her rally: “I can no longer bear to hear Mr. Macron say that you, you patriots, should be driven out of your own country.”

The pair also clashed during the live televised debate on Tuesday night.
The first round of the French presidential election is scheduled for April 23. The top two candidates will progress to a run-off vote on May 7.
