Trump 'planning electronics ban for some foreign plane passengers' after terrorism threat
DONALD Trump is believed to be planning to ban certain plane passengers from carrying electronics on US-bound flights.
Donald Trump is believed to be planning a ban on some passengers carrying electronics
The claim was leaked by an unnamed US official and appeared to have been confirmed by a Tweet from an airline, which has since been deleted.
The anonymous official indicated certain passengers would not be allowed to bring laptops, iPads, cameras and many other electronics in their hand luggage.
The source said the rule would cover a dozen foreign airlines flying from about a dozen countries, including some from the Middle East, and would include airlines based in Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The officials did not name the other countries.
The officials said no American carriers were affected by the ban, which would involve devices larger than a cell phone. Passengers would be allowed to carry larger devices in their checked luggage.
Royal Jordanian airline said, beginning tomorrow, everything other than “cellular phones and medical devices” would be banned in a message on its Twitter account.
The ban would effect citizens from around 12 countries
The message said: “Following instructions from the concerned US departments, we kindly inform our dearest passengers departing to and arriving from the United States that carrying any electronic or electrical device on board the flight cabins is strictly prohibited.”
The Tweet has since been deleted.
The news is expected to be announced tomorrow by the Homeland Security Department.
It follows a failed attempt by Donald Trump to ban migrants to the USA from several mainly Muslim countries.
The attempted ban, which has been blocked by judges, sparked furious protests across America and the world.
