Mr Gorka said there would be “no amnesty” for illegal immigrants and they would be forced to leave the country without question if they commit crime.
But UK-raised Mr Gorka, who is of Hungarian descent, added decisions were being made on whether legal immigrants could stay.
Speaking about illegal immigrants on BBC Radio 4, he said: “There will be no amnesty, I know a lot of people are talking about that.

If you are here illegally and you commit a crime that’s it, you’re gone
“But the question is is there the possibility for people to stay here once they’ve put themselves legally into the system without becoming citizens, that’s the question that’s being dealt with right now and it will be settled in conjunction with our colleagues in congress.
“The most important thing that was reiterated once again last night by the President is that if you are here illegally and you commit a crime that’s it, you’re gone.
“This is where the phrase ‘bad dudes’ comes from and there has been no watering down, no dilution of that at all, that commitment remains.”
Donald Trump confirmed a "great, great wall" would be built along the southern border with Mexico in his inaugural speech to Congress on Tuesday night.
The President also added that America "could not become a sanctuary for extremists".
He said: “We want all Americans to succeed, and that cannot happen in an environment of lawless chaos. We will restore integrity and the rule of law at our borders."
