Police arrest one after ‘explosions and gunfire’ heard in major Indonesian city
POLICE have arrested one and are on the hunt for an attacker after officers exchanged gunfire with assailants at a government building in a large city in Indonesia.

Officers reportedly first responded to an explosion near a government building in Bandung, capital of the country’s West Java province.
But local TV footage show police exchanging gunfire with two attackers.

One of the attackers is a woman, according to local police.
Unconfirmed reports claim one of the assailants intended to set off a suicide explosive.

Officers say they believed a hostage situation was taking place and negotiated for up to an hour without progress.
The attackers reportedly threw small explosives at the police.

The only reported injury is one of the attackers, who received a gunshot wound.
A police spokesman said: “We're currently in the government office.
“There was information from the people that there was bomb explosion.”
Bandung’s police chief said the explosive device was a “pressure cooker bomb”.
Indonesia has experienced incidents of terrorism in recent years, with much of it linked to Islamist terror cells such as ISIS or the al-Qaeda-affiliated Jemaah Islamiyah group.
