Alabama senator Jeff Sessions has been confirmed as US Attorney General
President Donald Trump nominated Mr Sessions after his election victory in November.
Mr Sessions was one of the first members of Congress to come out in support of former property magnate Trump.
Longstanding conservative Sessions is known for his tough stance on immigration, having advised Trump on his migration policy.
Mr Sessions is a longstanding Trump backer
Mr Sessions, a former US Army Captain, wrote in a leading US newspaper in 2015 that legal immigration is “the primary source of low-wage immigration into the United States”.
He has attempted in the past to stem the flow of legal migration to the US, fighting guest worker programmes and visa programmes for foreign science workers.
Mr Sessions is also a climate change sceptic, much like the Commander-in-Chief.
