Lorry driver who had vehicle hijacked by Berlin attacker shot in the head, autopsy reveals
THE lorry driver whose vehicle was hijacked and used in the Berlin massacre , was shot in the head, a post-mortem has confirmed.
An autopsy has revealed that Lukasz Urban died from a gunshot wound to head
Lukasz Urban, 37, was found dead inside his 40-tonne lorry, which was driven into a Berlin market just before Christmas, killing 12 and wounding a further 50 people.
The suspected culprit behind the harrowing attack, Tunisian Anis Amri, was later found and shot dead by police officers in Milan, Italy.
Aldona Lema of the National Public Prosecutor's Office stated: "As far as information that can be publicly revealed, I can only indicate experts have determined the direct cause of death to be damage to the nervous system."
She added: "Experts have linked this to the presence of a gun shot entrance wound around his temple."

The autopsy carried out by Cracovian prosecutors did not rule out him being alive during the attack, though this could not be confirmed with any degree of certainty.
German news media have suggested Mr Urban tried to wrestle control of the vehicle away from Amri, though this information that could not be confirmed either, however bruises were found all over the driver's body.
