Former Miss Italy contestant faces losing sight after 'jilted ex threw acid in face'
A FORMER Miss Italy contestant faces losing her sight and has been left with horrific scars after acid was thrown in her face.
Gessuca Notaro was attacked outside her home
Gessica Notaro, 28, was allegedly attacked by her ex-boyfriend who has been accused of stalking her following their break-up.
Jorge Edson Tavaras, her former boyfriend, vehemently denies carrying out the horror attack outside Miss Notaro’s home in Rimini on the east coast of Italy.
Miss Notaro suffered deep burns to her face and eyes and is being treated at a local hospital in Cesena, where doctors fear she may lose her sight.

The former TV presenter and dolphin trainer also suffered injuries to her hip and leg from the acid.
Tavares, from Cape Verde, has been arrested and remanded in custody. It is alleged he harassed Miss Notaro after she split up with him in August last year.
The bodyguard was ordered not to approach her home last year.
The pair met at an aquarium in Rimini where they both worked.

The victim was crowned Miss Romagna, the area where she lives and was a finalist in the 2007 Miss Italy contest. Her mother has reportedly been left “destroyed” following the attack.
A friend of the victim told local newspaper La Republicca: “She was always smiling, always optimistic. Her mother is destroyed by this.”
