‘IT WON’T LAST!’ Dysfunctional euro will cease to exist within decade, says top economist
THE euro will not exist in 10 years without “major reforms”, a top French economist has warned.

Emmanuel Macron, a French presidential candidate and former economic minister, said the shared currency was “dysfunctioning”.
He said in Berlin yesterday: “The truth is that we must collectively recognise that the euro is incomplete and cannot last without major reforms.”
Mr Macron called on France and Germany to help boost the euro - or acknowledge the project is doomed.

He said France needed to adjust its labour market to benefit the currency while Germany, which is benefiting from the failing Euro at the expense of other nations, needed to sacrifice its own success for the bloc’s good.

He said: “The dysfunctioning of the euro is of good use to Germany.
“We need a political willingness to move forward. I could tell you that Europe is out of date – it would be easier. Talking about turning the tables and using hard talk against Germans seems to be great politics in my country.
“There is a French responsibility to fix the situation. I will assume my responsibilities. France will assume its responsibilities. And I do trust Germany.”
Mr Macron, 39, resigned from his economic post last year in order to focus on his own individual political career.

He said at the time: "I decided to leave the government in a peaceful way, not because I am against any of its policies but because I want to undertake a new action."
His popularity is slowly growing in the polls - although he remains behind National Front lead Marine Le Pen.
