Mr Trump originally said that he would hold the press conference to discuss his business interests, Cabinet picks and “all other topics of interest”.
The property developer will face questions over potential conflicts of interests and his appointment of his son-in-law Jared Kushner as a senior adviser– which sparked accusations of nepotism.
In the wake of today’s Watersportsgate scandal, it is now likely that Mr Trump will also use the conference to deny allegations that he has ties with Russia.

A dossier published this morning made unsubstantiated claims that the Kremlin has supplied Mr Trump with information on his political rivals, and that Russia has evidence of the President-elect in a compromising position with prostitutes.
Mr Trump has denied any involvement with Moscow and has labelled the reports “fake news”.
He tweeted: “Russia has never tried to use leverage over me. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA - NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING!”
