TEN people have died and at least 20 are injured after two explosions at a boxing match in the Philippines.

The explosion happened at 9pm on Wednesday during an annual Roman Catholic celebration in Hilongas, Leyte.
President Rodrigo Duterte’s spokesperson, Ernesto Abella, said: “As of the moment, initial but unofficial news feed state that there were no intelligence reports of bomb threats, nor has anybody claimed responsbility for the bombing.”

The victims include at least 10 children aged from seven to 15 years old
An army spokesperson has revealed that initial investigations reveal that the homemade bombs were cellphone-detonated.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the bombings so far and the Hilongos police and police squads are investigating.

This attack follows a Christmas Eve grenade explosion outside a Catholic church that wounded 16 people on the southern island of Mindanao, a Muslim-dominated region where a long-running insurgency is being fought.
