A JUDGE has told an audience at a citizenship ceremony that if they don’t like President-elect Donald Trump, they should leave the country.
Federal Judge John Primomo (right) made the comments about President-elect Trump on Thursday
John Primomo, a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court in the Western District of Texas, criticised protestors who have demonstrated in cities across the country in recent weeks, unhappy about the election of Trump.
In the speech, the San Antonio federal judge said: “I can assure you that whether you voted for him or you did not vote for him, if you are a citizen of the United States, he is your president.
“He will be your president and if you do not like that, you need to go to another country.”
He will be your president and if you do not like that, you need to go to another country
He went on to criticise a group of NFL players who have begun kneeling during the national anthem in protest of racial oppression and inequality in the country.
He said: “I detest that, because you can protest things that happen in this country, you have every right to.
Protests have been seen in cities across the US
“You don’t do that by offending national symbols like the national anthem and the flag of the United States.”
Primomo later claimed that his words were intended to be unifying and that he had not in fact voted for Trump.
Protests and riots have raged across the US as people refuse to come to terms with the result of the presidential election two weeks ago.
Primomo also condemned some NFL players who have been kneeling during the national anthem in protest
