US President Donald Trump’s policies set to split the nation
DURING the Presidential campaign Mr Trump has revealed his policies in late night Tweets, off-the-cuff comments and threats.

Here are the key points:
THE MEXICO WALL
Mr Trump vowed last year to build a wall on the border with Mexico... and make Mexico pay for it (costing up to $12billion), in order to stop “drugs and rapists” crossing into the US. The border is 2,000 miles long and there is already a 650-mile wall along it, though drug cartels often tunnel under it.
IMMIGRATION
Mr Trump initially claimed that he would set up a deportation force to remove all 11million illegal immigrants living in the US. He later said he would not remove families, but then went back to the original plan.
MUSLIMS
He vowed to bring about a “total and complete shutdown” of all Muslims coming to the US, then said that this would be “extreme vetting” with some countries banned. Mr Trump has said he will stop Syrian refugees from coming to America on the basis that they may be terrorists.
INTERNATIONAL TRADE
He said he will rip up trade deals that do not put US interests first and vowed to put tariffs on countries like China, as “We can’t continue to allow China to rape our country”. He has blasted NAFTA, the free trade deal between Canada, Mexico and the US, and said it has “destroyed our country”.

NATO & THE UN
Mr Trump has branded Nato “obsolete” and suggested that members it will have to pay more if they are to enjoy the protection of the US. He is similarly disdainful of the United Nations asking, “Do they ever settle anything?”
ISIS and TERRORISM
Mr Trump has repeatedly vowed to “knock the hell out of ISIS” and said that he will ask his panel of military experts to draft a plan to defeat the terrorist group within 30 days of taking office. Mr Trump said that he would be prepared to bring back methods that are “a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding” on terrorism suspects.

RUSSIA
Mr Trump wants to reset relations with President Vladimir Putin and work with him to end the civil war in Syria. During his campaign Mr Trump praised Mr Putin’s leadership, calling him “a strong leader, stronger than our president”.
OBAMACARE
Mr Trump has said that on his first day in office he will repeal Obamacare, President Obama’s signature healthcare law and a key part of his legacy, calling it a “disaster” even though 20million Americans rely on it.
CLIMATE CHANGE
Mr Trump, a fan of fracking, has tweeted that he believes global warming is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese and wants to opt out of the Paris Climate Agreement.
