According to local media, officers had been monitoring the web when they noticed a tweet on Nakamura's Twitter account.
Upon closer inspection, they found that it was a password that allowed users to view the video on the unnamed movie-sharing app.
Investigators told local media that Nakamura has since admitted the charges over the criminal act, which is said to have taken place between November 14-18 2015.
The goalkeeper came through the Urawa Red Diamonds
Police believe the goalkeeper, who came through the Urawa Red Diamonds - a youth team affiliated with German club FC Bayern Munich - had initially downloaded the video from another party.
The investigation is still ongoing and the J2 league, the country's second division, is still reeling for the shocking case.
Montedio Yamagata's management company has since released a statement, saying the club “deeply apologises to all of the fans and supporters who support the J League.”
