Fighter jets SCRAMBLED to passenger plane in mid-flight emergency
A PLANE has been escorted to the ground after two fighter jets were scrambled to retrieve it from the sky.

The Airbus A320 has landed at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport in Finland.
It is not yet clear why the fighter jets were called in to rescue the plane which set off in Malaga.
Two F/A-18 Hornets were used to accompany the plane down where it was met by police.
Reports in Finland suggest a 'hijack alarm' has been triggered.
The plane involved is operated by Small Planet Airlines, a leisure airline company.

The aircraft has been isolated from the terminal and surrounded by police.
Reports suggest there are 20 to 30 police cars on scene.
Passengers arriving to the airport to pick up persons are not allowed to enter the area.
Police Inspector Jari Kinnunen said the hijack alarm was accidentally triggered and no people were harmed.

Eyewitnesses said passengers' belongings were inspected by police dogs - though they were not initially told what was happening.
Police asked for the names of every person on board, it is reported, before checking them against a list of passengers.
