Six passengers and the pilot were all killed after the small aircraft crashed near Quebec, Canada.
Canada's Transportation Safety Board said it was investigating the crash.
The small chartered plane crashed in bad weather as it approached a local airport in the Iles de la Madeleine region.
Jean Lapierre, a former Canadian transport minister and a broadcaster, was one of the seven people onboard the plane.
Members of his family were also among the passengers.
He worked as a political analyst for TV channel CTV and other Canadian media outlets.

Mr Lapierre was on his way to his father’s funeral with other family members, according to Canadian media.
He became a popular and prominent Quebec-based media commentator and broadcaster after a career in federal politics.

He served as then Prime Minister Paul Martin's lieutenant in the largely French-speaking province.
Officials from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada are heading to Havre aux Maisons Island in the Magdalen Islands to determine the cause of the crash.
The aircraft had departed from Montreal's St Hubert Airport.
