Oldest asylum seeker, aged 110, arrives in Germany after WALKING his way through Europe
A BLIND and deaf asylum seeker aged 110-years-old has arrived in Germany after a perilous journey from his Afghan homeland.

The man spent a month travelling with eight members of his family before arriving in the Bavarian border town of Passau on Tuesday evening, police said.
According to local volunteers, the man walked most of the way through Europe with a stick, supported by his 60-year-old sister.

A local police official told a German radio station: "We have met some rugged types crossing the border in the hope of a better life but this tops everything. He is quite a remarkable man."
The man is the head of a four-generations clan.

Speaking through an interpreter, he said he gave the go-ahead for his family to flee and embark on the expedition because life in their home city of Baghlan had become "unsafe."

He told Red Cross helpers three of his brothers had recently been murdered by resurgent Taliban forces in the region.
He said: "We wanted to get to a land where we can be sure that when we go to sleep at night we might be able to wakeup safely the next morning."
