Policeman adopts dog saved after owner tried to kill pet by breaking her neck
A POLICEMAN has adopted a dog which was miraculously saved after the owner tried to break her own pet's neck before throwing her into a bin outside her flat.

Officer Chris Santimarino took Honey in after Diamond Owens tried to get rid of the pooch because she kept biting her 22-year-old's boyfriend.
A maintenance worker contacted police after finding the dog in a bin.

She told our police officers that the dog needed to be euthanised, but she didn't have the money to do it, so she tried to kill it herself
Owens, from Ohio, US, told police that she could not afford to have Honey put down but insisted she need to be killed.
Officer Mike Mier said: "She told our police officers that the dog had bitten her boyfriend a couple of times and needed to be euthanised, but she didn't have the money to do it, so she tried to kill it herself."

Owens has been sentenced to 180 days in prison for animal cruelty.
The dog appeared to be in good health when she was found but she was taken to a vet for an examination.
Honey was taken to the vet for a medical examination
Just days after the ordeal, officer Chris Santimarino adopted the dog.
He said: "She's now part of our family."
