Russian journalist quits pro-Putin TV channel because of 'propaganda madness'
A LEADING journalist has quit from a state-funded Russian TV channel saying it's responsible for "propaganda madness".
Konstantin Goldenzweig announced his resignation on Facebook
Konstantin Goldenzweig launched the sensational attack on NTV as he announced his resignation to friends and followers on his Facebook page.
He started by thanking colleagues for their support over "12 years" before adding: "And sorry for the fact that in recent years I have sometimes participated in the general propaganda madness.
"There is only one banal conclusion - the deals with your own conscience are only as good as those you can cancel."
Liz Wahl announced her resignation live on air
Sorry for the fact that in recent years I have sometimes participated in the general propaganda madness
NTV, which is owned by state gas company Gazprom, has become strongly pro-Kremlin over recent years, especially since the conflict in Ukraine has intensified.
Mr Goldenzweig's resignation follows on from other journalists who have quit another channel which overtly supports Vladimir Putin.
Liz Wahl, a presenter on Russia Today, announced her walk-out live on air in March.
She accused the station of "whitewashing the actions of Putin".
The reporter, who was based in Washington, added: " As a reporter on this network I face ethical and moral challenges."
Russia Today called it a "self-promotional stunt".
But British journalist Sara Firth, who also worked for the station, quit on Twitter in July last year accusing journalists there of obscuring the truth.
