Fellow passenger Jesse Dougherty told ABC news there hadn't been a 'huge panic' but there had been 'some confusion' after the announcement.
He said: "About half way through there seemed to be some talking at the front of the plane. You could see the captain out there."
Fortunately for the passengers, the crew were able to land safely at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas at noon last Thursday.
A spokesman for the airport said the incident was being taken 'very seriously'.
