Caravaggio work stolen from museum
A painting by Italian artist Caravaggio valued at 100 million US dollars (£50 million) has been stolen from a museum in the Ukrainian port of Odessa.
Staff at the Museum of Western and Eastern Art said the painting - by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio and called the Taking of Christ, or the Kiss of Judas - was found missing on Thursday morning.
Police said the thieves bypassed an alarm by entering through a window.
Museum workers said they have repeatedly asked city authorities to modernise the security system.
The painting, from the late 16th century, is the only work of Caravaggio in the ex-Soviet country.
