THIS staggering footage shows the terrifying moment a husband almost FALLS to his death while renewing his wedding vows.
BRIDE SAVES GROOM FROM CLIFF FALL
As the happy couple read their vows to a small congregation, a quick-thinking wife was forced to save her spouse from tumbling off the edge of a mountain.
Despite the stunning location for their service - on the edge of the 9,121ft high Atalaya Mountain in Santa Fe, New Mexico - Faith and Peter Bolton's happy day almost ended in tragedy.
With windmilling arms, Mr Bolton was just inches from disaster as he appeared ready to topple backwards
With windmilling arms, Mr Bolton was just inches from disaster as he appeared ready to topple backwards.
However, luckily, the shocking video also reveals how his wife managed to avert the danger by grabbing his shirt.
Mr and Mrs Bolton were originally married on August 22, 2009, but decided to renew their vows last month.
Seconds after the white-knuckle moment, Mr Bolton was heard to shout Yawp!' – a reference to the Leaves of Grass poem by Walt Whitman.
Fortunately, the half-dozen of the couple's friends who had gathered for the ceremony were able to see the lighter side, later erupting into a relieved laughter.
Only three dogs didn't react to the close encounter.
Seeing it as a divine sign, Mr Bolton said the incident has now made him "think sometimes people are meant to be together".
