Israeli air strikes drag Gaza death toll to over 100
THE death toll from Israeli air strikes on Gaza rose yesterday to 100.
Israel has carried out hundreds of raids since launching an operation on Tuesday to stop rocket fire by Hamas.
No international pressure will prevent us from acting with all power
The latest to die were two people in a car in the Bureij area.
President Obama called Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier to offer to help negotiate a truce.
Mr Netanyahu said he had held “very good, positive” telephone consultations with Mr Obama and with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
But he added that “no international pressure will prevent us from acting with all power”.
