Briton dies in vintage plane crash
A British man has been killed as a vintage fighter plane crashed in Texas.
John Stephen Busby, 66, died along with the pilot, 51-year-old Keith Hibbett, when the the P-51 Mustang came down near Galveston, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
Mr Busby was visiting from the United Kingdom, officials said.
US Coast Guard petty officer Steve Lehmann said the captain of a charter boat notified authorities after seeing the crash in an area between Chocolate Bay and Galveston Bay. He said the plane went down in water 4ft deep.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston operated the plane.
The pilot was not in contact with air traffic controllers when the crash happened. The cause is being investigated.
