Three enormous alligators smash state records in Mississippi 'gator' hunt
ALLIGATOR hunters smashed state records at the weekend opening of Mississippi’s 10-day “gator” season.
The longest and heaviest female alligator, 10ft long and weighing 295lb, was snared within hours of the start. A second record was then broken when another group nabbed the heaviest male at 723lb.
That distinction lasted an hour, when a third group captured a 727lb alligator. Cole Landers, with brothers Dustin and Ryan Bockman, trailed the 13ft creature for two hours in the Mississippi River before getting close enough to spear it.
It took another two hours to hook it with a second line and shoot it.
