Australian girl, 23 gored on last day of bull-running festival in Pampiona, Spain
A 23-year-old woman needed surgery after being gored in the chest yesterday on the final day of a notorious bull-running festival.
The Australian was in a “very grave” condition after being speared by a half-ton bull during the morning run in Pamplona, northern Spain.
She is only the fifth woman to be gored since the event was opened up to both sexes 39 years ago.
The incident occurred close to the bull ring entrance where 28-year-old Robert Thackaberry, from Dublin, and 22 others were injured in a crush on Saturday.
Pamplona’s population of 200,000 swells to around two million during the festival, which is the largest in Spain.
After each morning run, the bulls are killed in an afternoon bullfight.
