No sign of peace in Afghanistan as new anger rises within the Taliban movement
ANGER within the Taliban movement over an office sign could scuttle Afghan peace talks before they even begin.
The sign identifying the Taliban’s new base in Qatar as belonging to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was removed after Kabul claimed it suggested there was a potential rival government.
Talks are due to begin in the Gulf state between the Taliban, the US and Hamid Karzai’s regime but a spokesman for the movement said of the row: “There is much anger about it but we have not yet decided what action to take.”
