Bill Gates has plenty to smile about
SUPER-RICH Bill Gates and Warren Buffett obviously know how to take it easy.
It can’t be too hard when Microsoft chairman Gates, 57, is worth $67billion and Berkshire Hathaway chief executive Buffett, 82, has been valued at $53.5billion.
That puts them second and fourth in the new Forbes list of the world’s wealthiest.
They were pictured at play yesterday before Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholders’ meeting in the US. Buffett and his board are set to appoint his successor as chief executive.
But the Sage of Omaha, as Buffett is known because of his reputation as the 20th century’s top investor, would only say: “The key is having a successor that will have more brains, more energy, more passion for it than even I have.”
He has pledged to give 99 per cent of his fortune to good causes, mainly through the Gates Foundation.
