'Maybe I should just pack up and go home' Barack Obama jokes about second term failings
BARACK Obama has joked that he should 'pack up and go home' after a reporter quizzed him over his second term failings today.
The President was asked by ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl about his issues with gun control legislation and not being able to halt sweeping budget cuts.
The 44th American leader was asked if he had 'the juice' to try to get the rest of his political agenda passed through Congress.
Mr Obama responded by saying: "Well, if you put it that way Jonathan, maybe I should just pack up and go home. Golly!"
After joking with the reporter, the President said while the US is 'divided in Government' he is confident measures can be passed.
Mr Obama is dealing with a government divide as the House of Representatives is controlled by Republicans and the Senate by Democrats.
Well, if you put it that way Jonathan, maybe I should just pack up and go home. Golly!
The President said: "I feel confident that the bipartisan work that has been done on immigration reform will result in a bill that passes the Senate, passes the House and gets on my desk.
"That has been a historic achievement and I've been complementary of the efforts of both Republicans and Democrats in those efforts."
Mr Obama also employed a famous line from Mark Twain to say: "Rumors of my demise are maybe a little exaggerated at this point."
