Family Guy episode where Peter Griffin runs over Boston Marathon racers pulled by Fox
AN episode of Family Guy where lead character Peter Griffin runs over Boston Marathon racers has been pulled by Fox television yesterday.
The episode will not be rebroadcast after a YouTube video that edited unrelated clips to depict the Boston Marathon bombings went viral.
It is not known who posted the video, which edited two seperate clips of an explosion and Peter Griffin drunkenly driving over runners to win the race.
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane wrote on Twitter: "The edited Family Guy clip currently circulating is abhorrent.
"The event was a crime and a tragedy, and my thoughts are with the victims."
The episode called 'Turban Cowboy', which was originally broadcast last month, has been removed from Fox.com and Hulu.com.
A Fox spokeswoman also said network officials were working with YouTube to take down the edited clips.
Television networks and movie studios frequently review material that might be considered sensitive or offensive after national tragedies.
This occurred in the aftermath of both the Newton school shootings and Hurricane Sandy late last year.
