Even the Pope can't make him smile! Crying baby is nonplussed at Palm Sunday mass
POPE Francis may have thrilled more than 250,000 pilgrims, tourists and Romans who joined him to celebrate his first Palm Sunday mass in a packed St Peter's Square yesterday, but one little boy was left unimpressed, as these adorable photos show.
Climbing into an open-topped popemobile after his service, the pope circled through the enthusiastic crowd, shaking hands, kissing and patting the heads of infants passed to him by bodyguards, and often giving children the thumbs-up sign.
While most of the children passed to the pontiff seemed oblivious to the holy occasion, Francis appeared to chuckle as one little boy was held up in a particularly disgruntled state.
The Sunday mass marked the beginning of the most intensive week of the Catholic Church's year, in a service that often went against tradition.
Keeping with his spontaneous style, the first pope from Latin America broke away several times from the text of his prepared homily to tell an off-the-cuff story about his childhood in Argentina.

The 'Pope of the poor', maintained his humble image delivering a homily that encouraged the faithful to lead simple lives.
Francis said Jesus "awakened so many hopes in the heart, above all among humble, simple, poor, forgotten people, those who don't matter in the eyes of the world".
At the end of his two-hour Mass, Francis took off his grand red vestments, leaving only the white cassock and skull cap.
He then greeted the crowds with a familiarity unheard of in the previous pontificate of the reserved Benedict XVI.
