Elephant tramples tourist to death
An elephant has trampled to death a Swiss tourist during what was supposed to be a peaceful ride through the jungle in southern Thailand.
The 63-year-old woman died when a pair of elephants carrying her and four other tourists crossed paths and began fighting in a forest in Surat Thani province.
Police Lt Col Apidej Chuaikua said one of the elephants reared up, throwing the woman to the ground, where she was trampled repeatedly.
He said four other tourists suffered minor injuries when they jumped off the elephants' backs and fled.
