Donald Trump's election will spark panic among some, with influential politicians concerned about Trump's win - despite messages of congratulations this morning.
The newly elected US president has sparked controversy worldwide, with a plethora of influential politicians and individuals criticising Trump’s win.
News of the Republican Party politician claiming victory has left notable figures questioning what is next to come for either themselves or their country.
Prince Harry
A key figure most likely waiting nervously for the announcement this morning is Prince Harry. Donald Trump had spoken out about Prince Harry's visa row, saying he would take "appropriate action" over questions the Duke of Sussex lied on his application about recreational drug use.
Now elected, doubt remains over whether the royal will be able to stay living in the country.
Trump told the Daily Express US: "I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me."
Donald Trump claimed victory over America this morning after being elected for a second term as the United States 47th president.
Speaking to his overjoyed supporters in Florida, the 78-year-old expresses how "this will truly be the golden age of America".
David Lammy
Foreign Secretary David Lammy has previously criticised the new president, despite sharing his congratulations today.
A previous social media post has resurfaced showing that Lammy posted on X in 2017: “If Trump comes to the UK, I will be out protesting in the streets. He is a racist KKK and Nazi sympathiser.”
Contradicting his previous grievances, the Foreign Sec posted on X this morning: “We look forward to working with you and @JDVance in the years ahead.”
Emmanuel Macron
Elsewhere in Europe, France’s president Emmanuel Macron kept his praise of Trump's win to a minimum. In a strikingly short statement on X this morning, Macron said: “Congratulations, President @realDonaldTrump. Ready to work together as we did for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”

Macron and Trump have clashed repeatedly over past years. In 2019 Trump called Macron "brain dead" after the French economy plunged.
The French President and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have pledged to strengthen European unity in response to the new president.
Olaf Scholz
Scholz is among those not expressing jubilance. The German chancellor had praised Kamala Harris as a "competent and experienced" politician who could well win the U.S. election prior to Trump's win.
Volodymyr Zelensky
Concerns also remain high for the future of the now Trump has been elected. He has promised to push Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to strike a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin, one that may involve a loss of territory, Ukraine fears he will reduce US military and financial support.
Zelensky posted on X: "I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the 'peace through strength' approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer."
However, others believe it's Putin that will suffer most from President Trump's election.
Sir Laurie Bristow - British ambassador to Russia at the time of the Salisbury poisonings in 2015 - said in an interview with the Sunday Express in September: “Putin had very high expectations of Trump once, but those expectations were largely dashed when he realised he could not manipulate Trump as much as he thought he could.”
