Panic in Majorca as island has ‘just 5 weeks’ before it runs out of coffee
The holiday paradise may soon be home to very irate residents.
Majorca may be a holiday hotspot, remaining popular with Brits into the winter months due to its relatively warm weather in comparison with Blighty.
However, local reports have claimed that the Balearic islands may soon run out of everyday essentials like butter and coffee.
Bartolomé Servera, President of the Balearic Food and Beverage Distributors Association, revealed that if something wasn't done and soon there could be shortages.
The trade representative blamed global factors on the precarious position the island finds itself regarding butter stocks.
In particular, Servera said issues in milk supply was the main problem.
"In Europe, many cows have been culled, resulting in a notable decrease in milk output. Additionally, avian flu in the United States has led to the export of European powdered milk," he said.
As it stands, he added that Majorca's coffee stocks will run dry in five weeks' time too.

Severa blamed distribution issues and a lack of supply. The issues may stem from the droughts in coffee-producing parts of the world, although it has not been confirmed as the reason.
In Brazil, the Minas Gerais region, which produces 30 percent of the world's Arabica beans has seen marked less rainfall than expected.
Likewise, drought in Vietnam has seen coffee production fall there too. According to Digital Weekday, the east Asian country may churn out the lowest amount of coffee for 13 years.
