US tourist dies as elephant pulls her out of vehicle in terrifying accident
An American woman was trampled to death while on safari in Zambia.
A tragic incident unfolded in Zambia on Wednesday as a US tourist was killed by an elephant.
Juliana Gle Tourneau, 64, from New Mexico, was part of a tour group that had stopped near the Maramba Cultural Bridge in Livingstone due to traffic caused by a herd of elephants.
Southern Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka informed ZNBC, a Zambian broadcaster, that one of the elephants attacked the group.
According to authorities,Tourneau was part of a group that had stopped near the Maramba Cultural Bridge because of traffic caused by the nearby elephant herd.
The elephant pulled Tourneau from her vehicle and trampled her, resulting in her death.

"Juliana Gle Tourneau, 64, of New Mexico, United States of America, died on Wednesday around 17.50," Southern Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka told ZNBC.
This marks the second fatal elephant attack on a US tourist in Zambia this year.
In March, another American traveler was killed when an elephant charged at their truck and flipped it over.

At the time, Keith Vincent, CEO of the safari group, said: "This is a tragic and we extend our deepest condolences to the family of the guest who died. We are also, naturally, supporting those guests and the guide involved in this distressing incident."
Elephants crossing roads is not uncommon in the region, posing a danger to tourists and locals alike.
Zambian authorities have urged tourists to be extremely cautious when observing wildlife throughout the country.
