Seven Palestinians have been killed and dozens more injured following new Israeli strikes on a tent area west of Rafah, according to Palestinian health officials.

The strikes targeted tents housing displaced families in the designated humanitarian area of Mawasi, located in western Rafah, medics and residents told Reuters.

Hamas media outlets have put the death toll higher, claiming 20 fatalities.

This latest attack follows previous Israeli strikes on Rafah that resulted in the deaths of at least 16 Palestinians, with locals reporting an intensification of conflict in the southern Gaza city.

These strikes occurred in the same vicinity where Israel had previously targeted what it claimed was a Hamas compound on Sunday night. This attack sparked a fire in a camp for displaced Palestinians, leading to the deaths of at least 45 individuals, as per local health officials.
