The 9 cheapest cities in Europe to buy a home - with three in the same country
Craiova, Sibiu, and Oradea from Romania have made it to the list of the cheapest cities to purchase a property in Europe.
The nine cheapest cities in Europe have been revealed in a survey and three are in the same country. Bitola, North Macedonia, claims the top spot, followed by Chisinau in Moldova.
But one country stormed ahead with three cities featured on the list, by Money Transfer. Craiova, Sibiu and Oradea, all in Romania have made it to the list of the cheapest cities to purchase a property.
Situated on both sides of the Crisu Repede River, Oradea lies just eight miles from the Romanian border. The city secured the ninth spot and is known as a hub for both economic and cultural endeavours.
The city is growing quickly compared to others in Romania. There are lots of changes happening in the city's infrastructure, like fixing up old buildings and putting up new ones. An average price for a 100m² apartment will cost around £141,149.
It has a population of a bit over 183000 people, making it the 9th largest city in the country. The city's infrastructure is top-notch, and continuous investments are fueling its growth and transformation into a better place.
Next in the line is the historic city of Sibiu. The city boasts numerous museums, including the renowned Astra National Museum — the largest open-air exhibition space in Europe. The average price for a 100m² apartment is approximately £131,101.
Two people can enjoy a three-course meal for only £17 and can rent a one-bedroom apartment outside of city center for an average of around £124 a month. A monthly travel pass in Sibiu costs £8.50.

The topmost among the Romanian cities that is the most affordable is Craiova. One can live here with an average monthly budget of only £462.04 (some EUR 522). There are several famous tourist attractions as well that adds to its beauty.
Craiova is home to the largest natural park in central and eastern Europe - Nicolae Romanescu Park. The park is spread over 100 hectares and designed by the French architect Édouard Redont.
Craiova’s museums (Art Museum – Jean Mihail Pallace, Bănia House, Oltenia Museum) house masterpieces and artefacts ranging from works of Constantin Brâncuşi to the 30,000-year old skull of a woman.
Of course, these all pale in comparison to Bitola. The average price of a 100m² apartment would cost £77,640. Meanwhile, you can get a coffee for £1.14 and a pint for £1.38.
