The ordinary city Brits never visit which wants to build America’s tallest skyscraper
Oklahoma City is not a go-to tourist destination but it could one day be home to North America's tallest building and the pictures look amazing.
A very ordinary city has had plans submitted for a whopping new skyscraper that will become the country’s biggest and compete with the tallest in the entire world - including the Burj Khalifa.
The USA’s current tallest building is the 1,700-foot One World Trade Centre in New York City, which is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex which was downed by terrorists in 2001.
It is a whopping 426 feet taller than the UK’s largest - The Shard - and yet the new building will beat the One World Trade Centre by 200 feet.
Most Brits wouldn't be blamed for assuming the new monster skyscraper will be in a major city, like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles or Chicago.
However, the megastructure will actually be in a relatively unknown city in the centre of the country.

With a population of about 600,000, Oklahoma City might not spring to mind as the site of America’s new tallest building - especially as the current largest building in the city is only 844 feet, which is 1,100 feet smaller than what the proposed “Boardwalk at Bricktown” will be.
Pictures of the plans show the building standing out against the rest of the relatively flat skyline.
The development will include three huge towers, with the aptly-named "Legends Tower" the tallest. It will boast a public observatory, restaurant and bar where guests can have dinner looking at the stunning views.
Scot Matteson, CEO of Matteson Capital, told US media: "Oklahoma City is experiencing a significant period of growth and transformation, making it well-positioned to support large-scale projects like the one envisioned for Bricktown.
"We believe that this development will be an iconic destination for the city, further driving the expansion and diversification of the growing economy, drawing in investment, new businesses, and jobs."

Oklahoma City might not be a go-to tourist destination but experts claim it is gradually growing. One of the top attractions is the Myriad Botanical Gardens, where you can wander round the exotic plants, while Riversport Adventures puts on whitewater rafting sessions right in the centre of town.
Meanwhile, there is an entire museum dedicated to cowboys. The building has 30,000 objects inside it and ranges from costumes, artwork, artillery, cinema clips and more.
The city also has the old Santa Monica ferris wheel which the city actually purchased on eBay. Meanwhile, its location is lauded as a perfect stopover city for those travelling coast to coast.
