Pakistan set to monitor Google
Pakistan is to start monitoring seven major websites, including Google, for anti-Islamic content.
It also plans to block at least 17 other, lesser-known sites it deems offensive to Muslims.
The decision comes in response to a recent order from a judge in Punjab province.
Pakistan telecommunication authority spokesman Khurram Mehran said that the sites to be monitored include Yahoo, Google, MSN, Hotmail, YouTube, Amazon and Bing.
Mr Mehran said the telecommunication authority would block links to sacrilegious content found on those sites.
Pakistan temporarily banned Facebook for about two weeks in May amid anger over a page that encouraged users to post images of Islam's Prophet Muhammad.
