Tourists slam St Tropez as ‘overpriced’ summer hotspot with ‘a dirty smell that lingers'
It's known as one of the world's most glamorous destinations - but not everyone has been happy with their experience in the playground of the rich and famous.
St Tropez is known as a millionaire’s playground - and it’s easy to see why.
With super yachts galore, there are plenty places to pose in oversized sunglasses and enjoy a glass of Champagne at the coastal town located on the French Riviera.
The 1956 film And God Created Woman launched both its star Brigitte Bardot and the town into the international spotlight.
And since then it has become the meeting place for supermodels - with Naomi Campbell and Penelope Cruz regularly spotted in the harbour and on the beach.
But despite hundreds of glowing reviews on review site Tripadvisor, not everyone has been as impressed with their experience of the harbour, which is one of the town's main attractions.

One Tripadvisor user, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, said she found the whole place, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France, overpriced.
She said: “This place takes advantage of the tourists to the extreme with ridiculous prices.
“A simple coffee costs 10 euros and wasn’t even served with a biscuit or chocolate.”
Another visitor, from Stockport, was far more cutting with her summary.
She said: “The harbour is full of luxurious yachts but there is also a dirty smell that lingers.
“The front has ‘tat’ shops or overpriced restaurants.”
She added: “You need to escape away from the harbour to see the lovely old town.”
Another user warned about thieves, something that is an issue at many of France's main tourism destinations.
She said: “Skip this overrated money trap!
“Thieves everywhere! Beware!
“There are professional teams that are skilled and you will very likely be robbed.
“By the time you figure it out they will be one to their next victim."
And finishes up by saying: “It’s not much to write home about. I wish I’d never gone!”.
But there is plenty of praise on the site for the mooring place for super yachts.
One review said: “It has everything it’s rumoured for.
“The old town, shops, harbour, the yachts and all the up market glitz and glamour you could ever want."
Another said: “So beautiful, so many beautiful boats and yachts.
“A very peaceful place to wander around amongst the beautiful people.”
A wealthy Italian tourist recently vowed to never return to St Tropez after being chased down and reprimanded by a waiter for the tip he had left.
While the man, described as "very rich" by local media, had thought his tip to be quite generous considering he had left £429 (€500), the waiter that reportedly followed him to the parking lot of the restaurant and allegedly told him the money "wasn't enough" and scolded the tourist for not reaching the "minimum" amount required - £859 (€1000).
Destination expert Anthony Peregrine recently dubbed St Tropez as “obnoxious” and pointed travellers in the direction of Cavalaire, also in France.
He wrote in the Telegraph: "The resort shares the same sun, sea and insouciance as St Tropez, 12 miles yonder, but without the obnoxious sense of exclusivity."
